Naxcer Building Materials
Background: This building system was under development for a military application needing rapid deployment of ballistic facilities in remote locations having little or no infrastructure. Naxcer Composites Group believes this same building system without the ballistic protection is applicable to humanitarian efforts to quickly rebuild the community infrastructure. Read Press Release
Need: The country of Haiti has been significantly crippled by an Earthquake, rendering most facilities serving basic human needs uninhabitable. More than 70% of the civic buildings, businesses and homes have been destroyed for an island of 9 million people. Estimates are 3 million people have been displaced or otherwise directly affected by this Earthquake.
Solution: Deliver “Fast Build” facilities that have 1 to 2 day build time. From the day of commitment to the first in country build is projected to be only three weeks. These buildings are durable, long-term facilities capable of surviving Hurricanes (Proven in Rita and Katrina) and other natural disasters. This building system uses very simple construction methods and allows the program to maximize use of local labor, volunteers, missionary groups and NGOs.
Benefits: This building technique minimizes the need for large shipments of raw materials into the country, thus reducing the building cost and burden on logistics. The simple construction technique allows the program to use non-trade construction, specifically local peoples, missionary teams, etc. Given the magnitude of the damage, one of the initiatives needs to be minimizing the projected strain on over burdened construction resources. This program will allow limited construction resources to be applied to most urgent needs and/or larger projects and reduces the burden on the in-country transportation system. This program will quickly show forward progress in rebuilding the communities at large.
Intended Uses: Medical Facilities*, Food Distribution Centers*, Orphanages/Schools*, Bath Houses, Financial Institutions, Homes, Operation Centers, Storage Facilities, Police Tactical Centers, Justice Centers and Other Government Buildings. (*Foam for these applications is made anti-bacterial to reduce spread of disease and infections)
